Christmas

SOMETIMES I stop and think of what Christmas really is
I OFTEN times think if it's about the gifts we recieve, the love,
or even the fact of just giving. The main point of Christmas that
everyone miss understand is Christ without Christmas we would'nt
be here without Christ it would not be able to finish the word as suppose
to C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S.In most cases it's not able what it is that you reciveve
or get, but the most important thing is that GOD has gave you a lifetime gift.
And that gift is talent and what ever it is that your talent is you must take it and
make something great of it each and everyday of your life.

Life Without an Education

If people had no success then there would be less job offers.Without sucess people wont be able to fullfill there dreams to sucess and follow there career goals and stay on the right path to the best at what it is that you are doing. Education makes us who we are in everyday society wheather it's helping others or just being available at all cost. And if no one had ever thought much of having to be sucessful, then I would'nt have the intelligence that I have now knowing how to read, write, count, or even construct a complete sentence. The past weekend I picked my major and I thought closely about what it was that I would want to do for the rest of my life. Which was not easy so I had chose a variety of what it was that I was interested in, which had me to realize that with so many careers to life how could you not value one of them.
Which brings me back to living life without having an
education; not being able to make your own decisions and making the right choices as you proceed in life making good sums of money. Education is also important for providing for one's family whether it's food, or material possesions education is always needed. In addition, education prepares you to provide for the emotiona and mental needs of your family.

Word History

I feel that since this is Chicago and the violence towards CPS students is being held here in chicago then why not come to chicago and speak of the violence that has come about. If Obama was to come to chicago and speak of the violence as to which has occured in the past years, then it would help people to feel more calm, and at ease, to have a black african-american coming to are community to make others such as family members and relatives feel more redirected that having had deaths in there past years while there students were still in school. Which may not seem too much to others experienceing violence from many locations, the population of CPS students is going to a downfall seeing the past year percent of CPS students deafth was 70%. And knowing that actions speak louder than words I will know that the honorable Barrack Obama words will make a difference so why take upon a task that we cannot defeat and let someone who can.
I also think that if Obama stands out toward many of are United citizens then he could be a role-model to others some of which who don't have fathers like for example me I know what it would take to be a father and the qualities that it may take to be a father, knowing that I have responsible people to look up to, then I could maybe grow up to be like them. Which most perfect role-model in their life as to Barrack Obama being welled mannered, and having to live in a suitable home. I also feel that there is a message being told between each obstacle or pattern of life knowing that it doesn't matter of the color of your skin or what it is that you do or say but what you make of it to make you feel more accountable for the responsibilities that you may take upon into your own hands, as a young adult.

ME BeInG mYsELf I feel that the computer has shown me all the things that I have really been interested in by saying that I was creative and artistic. I also found out that I have some enterprising skills; which is a good field for me to operate in my lifetime career and business. I can help others with problems that they may not be able to understand on their own. I will push myself to get good grades and work hard which means that if I am failing in that class and dont have homework I will push myself to exceed take what ever risk that needs to be taken to pass out of class. I am described as being creative and energetic which are all apart of my influences and what ever it is that I have to offer knowing that...

'' Life is a broken winged bird that can not fly and I wonder as my heart ponders do all birds cry having no place to turn or look to the sky''.

This means that not only if am alone I would have to need someone that I could lean on someone to turn and talk to, and get to were I am going which is succeeding to the highest point. That is to show others that I am a well educated African American.

My family consists of five brothers and one sister and my mom.
My favorite thing about my family is spending quality time together going out to dinner and visiting new places.
My favorite family member is my uncle Zack because he can always understand when I need talk to him about things that’s on my mind and that are bothering me. And the decisions that I choose to make.
My favorite thing to do with my family is getting together with my other relatives during parties or holidays.
Many things have changed in my family since I was born, but most important is that we are all still connected.
If I could change one thing about my family, it would be to live in Indiana with my auntie, my uncle and my grandmother.

The year I was MVP the most valuable player of the team and this wasn’t any ordinary team it was the church team the church that I attend now which is The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day-Saints. It was a young man’s basketball tournament and we had went against the other wards of the church during the year 2007. The people that were there was Tj the young man’s leader who creates the activities for all of us to attend, Kendal, Sammy, Stacy, Darius, Reed, Simon, Josh, and Brother Larsen. I lead the team to a victory by running point and having to put points on the score board.

Nasir Guyton March 18, 2009Bass School Room 107-8th My Friends Hello!'' can I speak to Jamelle Greenleafas I called out to one of my best friends who I hadbeen hanging out with for 3 1/2 years. While I wason the phone with him I had explained who all had been my friends for the last years of being at Bass School. And those people had been Jamelle, William,Larryon, Trevon, Quinton, and Shenae, who had allbeen reliable and trust worthy friends. The main person that I would like to talkabout is William Ware who is funny and can alwayspull a joke from out of his sleeve. When we are both together it's like the sun and the moon being placedtogether to make a eclipse having the whole world to become a dark midst of air. There's always times where neither of us can sleep at night and began to have a conversation depending on our mood during that particular time of the day. I would also like to talk about my friendShenae Henry who is fat and likes to make fun ofothers but when she sees me she would then beganto put a spark of glistening laughter. And it maybe times where like everyday that we would fight or argue but then at the end of the day or the next day we would grow back to having a trusting friendship. And at these times while fighting and arguing there'salways one of my friends breathing on my back side to help, guide and protect me. And that person is Larryon Johnson whois remarkable smart in many ways along with JamelleGreenleaf going at it back and fort which is why weknow call him crip being able to throw up four differentsigns at once. And at times that I needed help in my subjects during the school's period I had always been able to go to him for the extra help I had needed that others wouldn’t give out to me, because of the foolish remarks I had gave out to them but my buddy Larry had thought they were funny. And during these times when am arguing with someone or fighting it's always a goofy that is laughing and that person is Trevon Doby who cracksme up from his marvelous characteristic behavior. Atsometimes when you are bored and just don’t have anything to do just looking at him will make you toget off your shoes. Then just when you are about tobegan to start laughing or wanting to laugh you slowlyturn and feel a big brick wall reflecting you to turn backaround. That person is Danielle Cusick who is defiantlynot one of my friends but who is more of the schools bully. And as the enormous boulders of lightning began to force you into the wall feeling as though you had just put a hole into earths surface going through a comma having to see that same day on tomorrow as it was before. And right before the last punch gets to be blown a shadow by the name of Quinton Patterson comes to the rescue being able to fight off the evil villain helping me to be safe. Who also cares about no matter what the case is. In conclusion, what I have learned from theseseries of events is that friendship only comes in one way and not two they are the ones you can depend on and who you trust of all people know.

Favorite Relative

Oh!’’ Denise I have no money as I had
explained auntie being n the living room just
about to go to the store. I felt as if the sun
had bent down bent down to touch my neck
not being to move from its enormous gaze of
heat soaring past my spine. It was really hot
in the late summer having nothing to do but
smother yourself into a chair.
It’ll just be me you and your cousin Devin
and if need some money then you would just
have to ask me and not catch an attitude. I just
hope you didn’t think that were going to pay
your own way to the arcade fun house. Aw so
were really not just going to the store. I had
been admired with how my auntie had handled
the day with a little excitement seeing as though
she had once been a kid as well and had lots of
fun.
She had always surprise me with something
special but not this time I was onto her. As we
entered are destination, I saw a cascading waterfall
as being described as a tropical rain forest. Bubbles
begined to float from my chest as I had been amazed
with excitement. When I got to the stand to purchase
my ticket I had made up my mind to ride on the roller
coaster for the first time.
Then seeing that it was going to be a long exha-
usted day, I decided to get the same ride for the 4th and
final ride. And as I told my auntie that the wind glider
had been a lot of fun, she decided to join me as well. It
was almost time to go and already I had been having a
wonderful time being with my family. As I enjoyed my
last minute ride on the bumper carts it had been a mouth
watering event seeing that everyone was going into circles
and loops around the surface area.
In conclusion, I learned a valuable lesson that my
aunt is a caring woman helping the needs of everyone
that approaches her in her everyday movements. Whether
it’s the bad, the happy, and the said she puts her hands at
warmth ready to help her family. And in this behavior of
treating me in this responsible matter it has come to me to
treat her the same predicament. And if it’s not the best moment of your life then you can make the most of it to
doing what’s possible to end your day.

Hamster Care

I have been introduced to many animals
in my life time the but the main animal that
I would like to talk about the most is a hamster.
I know the aspects that it takes to care for animal
of this kind and you then begin to engage a caring
bond that if something is to happen to it then you
would burst out into tears. That’s why I am here today
to tell you what it takes to care for an animal.
I would first buy all the materials needed for the
animal then I would apply all the accessories as followed
from the text of directions. Then I would purchase my pet
seeing which of them fits my aspects of caring. I would then buy play toys for the animal so that it doesn’t grow bored. Then having nothing else to do I would then clean the pet cage it depends on what type of cage you have of course. And they are also easy to take care of while your at home with your parents not being able to hear the sound of a dog enormous bark.
I personally like to use a glass aquarium because it saves you money on thinking of buying another pet as of with me I had once had a fish and I thought that since I was using a cage then maybe I could use it for my hamster as well. I then get out the cleaning supplies needed which is Windex glass cleaner and Mr. Clean soft scrub, but make sure not to spray any fragrances around or in the cage of a pets home because it may cause them to get sick and die. And the way you can deal with your pets sickness is by simply taking a hot towel and hold it under it or you can just take it to the vet for a vaccination.
In the past several years of having pets I can calmly say that hamsters are the quickest disease animal who is apart of the rat family which is familiar with believing because of its performance of breeding. You can then sometimes if your busy purchase a chase around ball that the pet can go into and cycle around your house that is why I like it the most. At the end of the day you can then put a nightlight over the aquarium because they are most active during that time of the day. This is why I like to have gerbils as a pet because they are active at night when I like to stay up late.
In conclusion, I care for many pets but what I mostly like from this pet that I like the way I can snuggle with their fur and rub my fingers through it as I lay it down on my bed. I love my hamster and just like me you should care for it as being a responsible pet career.

We know the story. One December evening, a woman left
work and boarded a bus home. She was tired; her feet ached. But this was Montgomery, Ala., in 1955, and as the bus became crowded, the woman, a black woman, was ordered to give up her seat to a white passenger. When she remained seated, that simple decision
eventually led to the disintegration of institutionalized segregation in the South, ushering in a new era of the civil rights movement. And with this
information based on Rosa Parks past crisis I can commonly say that
if she had been here to witness our president. Then she would have said that he is a outreaching man who cares for others amongst him and not only himself but the community and the world that revolves around him.

Dear Fredrick Douglass,
I am glad to see you be able to
make it through these harsh and
most retrieving moments of life
to end up where you were then
as becoming the best that you
can as being a slave. I have wit
ess your way to succeeding and
wanting to learn and be taught
each and everyday becoming
well educated. That is why I
am saying if you were present
during this time still writing
newspaper articles and much
more articles. Then your would
probably be describing are pre
sident Barrack Obama and the
struggles he had taken to bring
him and his family so far in life.
And then you would be eagered
to talk about your past experience
of the harsh moments being a sla
ve ans how you had survive thro
ugh these severe moments to life.

Dear Madam CJ Walker,
I have a great interest in your everyday
work as to creating each and every hair
product that was available during your
time. And expanding your knowledge
as to be curious in your many successful
ways of doing. That is why I think that
by you being present at this time would
have created wonderful items seeing
that it would be adjusted to our African
American president Barrack Obama. I
think that you would have created a hair
renovator that replenishes your hair and
restores it to a more silk and conditioned
way. The product will then have a name
by the presidents wife which will then be
called Michelins soothing crème and butter.
I t would be made as a fine art of work
produced by Michelle Obama which every
one will by as seeing it to be made a well
respected woman of many dreams that people
could succeed from and Madam CJ Walker
and accompanied by Michelle Obama

Dear Harriet Tubman
I have been admired from your
braveness and curiosity toward
leading my ancestors to freedom.
To the Underground Rail road and
no matter what the circumstances
are you have done all that was
possible for your actions towards
what you have called yourself to
honor are rights as being African
Americans. And hadn’t it would have
been me I would have handled this
problem the same way as well as
you had done to the rights that was
needed to be that all of most
African Americans did not have. I
have felt your struggle as if walk-

to struggle in everyday needs and
still today many of us still face
those difficulties

Personal Narrative
It all started in the summer of 7th grade bored in the house doing absolutely nothing.

In a factory there I was on July 20, 2008 inside it
was old, dusty, and torn down. It was dark and the roof was torn out as well, and it had smelled terrible like someone had died and lived there for years. The circumstances were to be on the lookout for anything odd or strange. I also had to help clean up the junk that had been thrown on the floor. The reason I helped was because I thought that maybe later in life I would look back on this day seeing that it was my first time in a factory. And since I had absolutely nothing to do and the guy was my grandmother’s nephew than I can help him as much as I helped her. I felt that at this time I was doing the wrong thing because my grandmother had knew things about him. This had then made her mad at the both of us especially me because I was with him. The main person that had needed the help was my grandmother’s nephew. I felt that what I had done was not worth the amount that I was getting paid. And so after a while he grew angry at me and decidedto send his son out and fight me. And the way I had handled that type of situation was by walking away
February 19, 2009

Dear Martin Luther King,

I have felt your cry as being a leader of
our African Americans having boldness
to walk through everyday struggles being
able to have a positive mind about our race.
Having a dream to be joined together with
whites and not to judged by the color of
our skin. Well it has come a time in life
where that had finally happened your dream
has come true and know we are living it
safe and reliable amongst others. In time
God will answer many prayers and now
is the time where you should be answered
by your many callings to action for your
long lost dream to become true. Which has
lead us to a African American elected as our
44th president Barrack Obama. And hadn’t
you been present here today who knows
what you would have been capable of but
to others that’s just another story.

There are times in your life where certain people
may have you to feel different in your everyday lives
to have better yourself for the future as to your every-
day success. Then there's always that one person in
your life that gives you that extra push, no matter what's
the circumstances living the life of being young and intel-
ligent.
I have been told many times of my life that education
is success and without it you would be nothing in life, havingnowhere to turn or look back on in the past because once yourin the future your life has just begun. I then had lost hope in believing that it was true. And then I realized that we had an African American elected as president here to serve our country. I was then drawing conclusions on what steps Barrack Obama must have taken to be where he is now.
I was then influence by the reactions toward our president serving this country the way that it should be treated in everyday needs. It came to me that a while of thinking about my education that I was still young and while young I can set goals for the future. And I will do that by following the means to everyday success learning the possibilities to life and what's to be expected of me in
the long live future which my hands lay in.
I will deal with these everyday goals by staying on task and res-
ponding to what every it is that is being asked of me and not doing something that will trouble me for the rest of my life. I would then study and work hard to become the most intelligent student of my class being able to make my dream come true of becoming a real-estate lawyer. And
learning the different types of law and seeing how it is used among others. And not only to learn about success but the true meaning of life and what its made of to create everyday patterns in your life that you struggle to get
yourself out of.
In conclusion I learn that life is an empty glass of milk and without feeling it up then you would have nothing to offer in life. Having the dream is less work living the dream is a head ache to success and along with your
everyday well educated behavior.

It's always times where you get blamed for something you did not do, that would then make others made to want to put there hands on you. But it’s always those times where that person will regret what they have done in the future looking back at there lives. Is it because of pride, happiness, confidence, or is it just to fit in with others to make you feel bold. At times it may come to me yeah am tough am big and bad but once you go to your parents your offal said.
It has been told to me many times of my life that education is success, but to others it’s a place for foolishness. The teacher gives you an assignment to complete and you half do it or even when you
are given one assignment you don’t do it at all. I am one of those people. Then when the teacher assigns you work to do right before she leaves out the room instead of doing it you just act out and start a argument with others. There is only one excuse for not doing your in class or out side of class which is lazy.
The curiosity of wanting to learn should bring students to a stop arguments, and fights. The way of wanting to learn or getting a full meaning of what's being asked of you is the way to success. And
with that success you should be able to set goals for the future and your yearly life of being a child. The problem that children have is the fact of there learning process as to every predicament of subjects in the school policy. What really makes teachers mad is the lack of knowledge and its not that you’re stupid or dumb its just that you need help and the only way to receive that help is to allow yourself to think.
As I once read in a poem by Langston Hughes life is a broken-winded bird that can not fly. This means that with out that extra push to make yourself go further you wont make it through life as it throws out everyday obstacles that you have to get through. Like my auntie would always say education is success and without it you'll never make it through life. This means to me that you have to give it your all expressing your reasoning to living to make a good cause and not a bad experience. It is very important that you are at the top of your class on everyday success not mattering community you’re coming out of.
In closing I would like to say to those of an empty brain do not behave in such a immature matter towards your teacher that you would want some-
one to treat your mother. If you would like to play or make fun of others then do it on your on time outside of school where it’s not so serious to
follow directions in school.

Writing Log

If I could go to any city in the world I would go to Indianapolis. Why I choose to be in Indianapolis is because I have family members out there. I have my auntie, my cousin, my uncle, and last but not least my big brother.
I also want to go out there because there are so many things to do like when I was seven and I was living with my grandma but my brother wasn’t out there. My brother just went out their this summer now back to what I was saying.
It is fun out there but you have to make it fun. Like last year of spring when it was warm and I met this boy name gary and we became best friends. So he knew two boys that were both brother’s. So he as an one of the boys had a go cart so he rode us around nearly everyday. And his brother had a motorcycle that was snicky.

Barrack Obama

FOR he is are president which has given me a guide through life to show how going to school and education pays off to what you know in life which is the
the real world and soon i will be apart
of it for i am a shell begining to hacth
finding ways through life to be suceessful in life and become
Anything that my heart pleads, and know that i have a role-model to show me how i can become
anything in life it is impotant for my education and my boldness
of welling to learn in all ways so as becoming
a young man as to know becoming a man i
shall be ready for every obstacle that is thrown at me so may
GOD
be with me every day in i leave this with you in the name of
JESUS CHRIST
AMEN
A protfolio describing my everday work as to typing every writing promt that is given to me including things that i feel is important to share out to others. As to show how education and success has helped me to understand the qaulities and espects of life so here we are with a new year.
Nasir Guyton January 20, 2009 Bass School Room 107-8th Lloyd Augustus Hall
Lloyd A. Hall was born in Elgin, Illinois on June 20, 1894. He was an African-American chemist who is best known for his work in food chemistry. This was a new branch of industrial chemistry and in 1939, people were interested in knowing just what the Institute of Food Technologist were. As Lloyd Hall continued to make contributions to his field of science, the world continued to take advantage of his study and new discoveries.
Lloyd Hall was born in Elgin, Illinois, on June 20, 1894 and had an interesting family background. Hall's grandmother came to Illinois via the "Underground Railroad' at the age of sixteen. His grandfather came to Chicago in 1837 and was one of the founders of the Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church. He later became the church's first pastor in 1841. Hall’s parents, Augustus and Isabel, were both high school graduates.
Although Hall was born in Elgin, he was raised in another town in Illinois called Aurora and was raised by his father Augustus Hall and mother Isabel Hall. His father was a Baptist minister and son of the first pastor of the Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, which was the first African American church in Chicago. Hall's mother was a high school graduate whose mother had fled to Illinois via the Underground Railroad at the age of sixteen. It was through the strict teachings and respect of others by his parents that Hall was able to overcome adversity and succeed as a scientist.
Dr. Hall got his start in science by taking a chemistry class at East Aide High School in Aurora, Illinois. It was this class that sparked his interest in the field of chemistry and at that time (around 1908), science was not very popular with high school students. However, with Lloyd Hall, all sciences were interesting. Lloyd graduated among the top 10 in his class of 125. There were five black students at his high school throughout his four years - him being one.
Lloyd Hall was an active young man, he participated in debating and athletics including being the captain of the debating team for a year and a letterman on the track and baseball team. Besides his extra curricular activities, Lloyd Hall made time to deliver morning newspapers and keep his grades high. Hall graduated among the top ten in his class and was offered scholarships to four Illinois universities. Of all the universities, Hall chose to attend Northwestern University.
There, Lloyd worked his way through college and majored in chemistry. He graduated in 1916 with his BS degree and decided to pursue chemistry in the graduate program at the University of Chicago.
Lloyd encountered discrimination when he was hired by telephone by the Western Electric Co. Fortunately; his chemistry background secured him position as junior chemist in the Chicago Department of Health Laboratories. One-year later, he rose to the position of senior chemist and two years later, Lloyd left to be chief chemist at the John Morrell Co. in Ottuma, Iowa. He remained there for two years.
In September of 1919, Lloyd married Myrrhene E. Newsome and it was two years after his marriage that he moved to a larger company - the Boher Chemical Laboratory in Chicago. There, he served as chief chemist. By that time, Lloyd's interests had turned to chemistry of food, which at that time was a new field of chemistry. In 1922, Lloyd became president and director of a consulting laboratory, the Chemical Products Corporation, in Chicago. He accepted a full time job offer there and was appointed chemist and director in 1925. He maintained this position until his retirement in 1959.
It was before 1925 that Dr. Lloyd went to the Griffith Laboratories that he began research in salts for curing and preserving foods. Sodium chloride (table salt) had been used as a meat preservative with sodium nitrate or potassium nitrate. The mixture reddened the meat and gave it a nice color, but Lloyd found that the sodium chloride penetrated the meat slowly, while the nitrate and nitrite went faster. Since this was undesirable because the meat would disintegrate before the sodium chloride could penetrate (to preserve it), Lloyd designed the nitrate and nitrite inside the sodium chloride crystal by "flash-drying" the solution of these salts. In this way, the sodium chloride could dissolve and penetrate to preserve the meat before the nitrogen containing nitrates and nitrites inside the salt crystals could be released to cure the meat. As a result Lloyd's "flash dried" crystals were widely used in the meat industry. He further improved the storage of meat later by introducing tartrate and glycerin in the salt solution so that it would be more powdery than cake-like from the moisture.
Lloyd also researched the sterilization of foods and substances associated with food. Lloyd found that spices marketed carried with them millions of germs in the form of bacteria, molds and yeasts. Lloyd carried out a number of tests to kill the germs. This is when germ-killing ethylene oxide gas came into the picture. Our spices became sterilized and the process was then used for drugs, medicines, and medical supplies, just to name a few. Lloyd's method of sterilization is in general use throughout our country.
Hall spent a considerable amount of time in consulting work which lead to projects such as puncture sealing composition. He had an active interest in fields of seasoning, spice extractives, and enzymes, as well as detergents, vitamins and asphalt. He devoted much of his time to the development of yeast foods. His work in these different fields led to more patents in his name. At last count, Hall had been granted 105 United States and foreign patents and methods he invented.
Hall served in WWI and WWII as a science advisor. He helped in WWI, he was assistant Chief, Inspector of Powder and Explosives and during WWII, he was a member of the Committee on Food Research of the Scientific Advisory Board; he helped maintain military food in supplies in pure and palatable form.
Hall served on many committees that dealt with food chemistry and was very active in the American Institute of Chemists. He also held positions on this board during the duration of his active status.
Lloyd Hall was presented with many honorary awards, along with establishing lists of patents on chemicals. He was awarded the Honor Scroll Award in 1956, the Honorary Secretary and Chairman of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Board of Directors, American Institution of Chemists and many others. He has been granted approximately 105 United States and foreign patents on products and methods he invented. Hall is also the author of about fifty scientific papers.
Lloyd Hall was an extraordinary man; he was brilliant and willing to try new things. He was a humanitarian because he worked hard at trying to create a better way of preserving food and keeping people healthy. Thanks to Lloyd Hall we, today, have better ways of keeping our food fresh longer.
As you can see, Lloyd A. Hall contributed to science with his new methods in food chemistry as well as being an active member in many science-oriented boards and committees. Hall retired in 1959 from the Griffin Laboratories to pursue relaxation in sunny southern California. He died on January 2, 1971.
